 Itinerary
Day 1  Depart for Minnesota
Depart today and enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight in St. Cloud, Minnesota. (Dinner)
Day 2  Arrive in North Dakota
Depart the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” and arrive in North Dakota at Medora, the home of the Medora Musical. (Breakfast)
Day 3  Theodore Roosevelt National Park and The Medora Musical
We start among the breathtaking Badlands of North Dakota in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The 36-mile scenic loop winds its way through the buttes and Badlands featuring striking overlooks with unbelievable views. Back in Medora our chefs load steaks onto pitchforks and fondue them Western style, complete with all the fixins. Tonight we have reserved seats to the Medora Musical, the rootin’-tootinest, boot-scootinest show in all the west! (Breakfast and dinner)
Day 4  Buffalo Bill Territory
In Wyoming we arrive in Cody, “the Rodeo Capital of the World.” At the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, you’ll encounter some of these historic figures, including Bill himself, the renowned sharpshooter Annie Oakley and Indian chief Sitting Bull. We also enjoy dinner and the live western show at the Cody Cattle Company. Tonight, all roads lead to the Cody Nite Rodeo the longest running and only nightly rodeo in the world. After the nightly Flag Presentation, enjoy the exciting barrel racing, bull riding and saddle bronc riding. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day 5  Yellowstone National Park
We explore Yellowstone today in all its glory on a guided tour. We watch Old Faithful blow off some steam and see the upper and lower falls of Yellowstone's Grand Canyon, one of the most breathtaking sights inside the park. In addition, there are many other natural geothermal sites. Geysers, mud paint pots and venting occur regularly throughout the region. (Breakfast)
Day 6  Cheyenne Frontier Days and Bit-O-Wyo Dinner Show
Departing Cody we arrive Cheyenne while the town is in the midst of their annual Frontier Days, the “World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration.” Tonight, we are treated to dinner followed by the lively entertainment of an “Old Fashioned Melodrama” with the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day 7  Frontier Days Rodeo and Terry Bison Ranch
We begin with a plate of hot pancakes and special Cheyenne “howdy” at the annual Pancake Breakfast where over 100,000 flapjacks are served annually. Next, we climb aboard the Cheyenne Trolley for a narrated tour of this Old West town. See the historic Depot Buildings, a National Landmark, see where many gunfights occurred as well as the spot where Wild Bill Hickok was married. Then, we have reserved seats to the Cheyenne’s world-class rodeo. The excitement is high as bull riders and bronc riders take to the arena. Later, we arrive at Terry Bison Ranch Resort and climb aboard the train for a ride out to the ranch’s bison herd. Then it’s back to the ranch for a tasty dinner served up Western style. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day 8  Mammoth Site of Hot Springs
We depart Wyoming today and make our way into South Dakota. At the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs we see the excavation site which features fossils of 58 woolly mammoths, the world’s largest site of its kind. Then we continue to our hotel in Rapid City. (Breakfast)
Day 9  1880 Train, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse
We board the 1880 Train of the Black Hills Central Railroad for spectacular mountain scenery along the tracks laid in the 1880s to service the area mines. Then, we visit the famed Shrine of Democracy, Mt. Rushmore. Time is spent visiting Crazy Horse Memorial, the enormous mountain-carving-in-progress dedicated to Native Americans. (Breakfast and dinner)
Day 10  Wall Drug and Badlands National Park
We begin our journey home with a stop at Wall Drug, a unique shopping emporium and favorite watering hole since the 1930s. Later we stop at the Big Badlands Overlook for a spectacular view across Badlands National Park. Continuing our journey home we stop in Worthington, Minnesota, for our last night stay and gather for our farewell dinner before returning home. (2 Breakfasts and dinner)
Day 11  Arrive Home
Arrive home today with memories of Cheyenne’s Frontier Days and your Western adventure. (Breakfast)
