Old School
I
believe in the "Old School" way of doing
things from the past. In today's fast-paced world
with technology leading the way, isn't it time
to review some of our traditional practices and
remind ourselves that these tried and true ways
can spell unlimited success.
Here are a few that are top of mind to me, and
epitomize what having "Old School" values
can mean to us...
Build
relationships before building clients
People
do business with people they know and like
Return
peoples' phone calls in a timely fashion
Thank-you
notes should be handwritten
Say
good morning and look people in the eye
When
you say you are going to do something, do it!
Treat
people how you would like to be treated
Make
lists and do the priorities and hard jobs first
Meet
deadlines
Be
proactive and enthusiastic
Don't
assume anything.
There
are many, many other "Old School" ways
of conducting yourself, but you get the idea.
Now don't get me wrong, I love email, Facebook,
Twitter and the rest. You will note that the above
list does not mean you do away with computers
and other electronic aids - those are all tools
that can help you remain relevant in the "Old
School" way of doing things. But they are
only tools - the way you put them to work for
you will determine your level of success.
I hope my foundation is based on Old School Ways
and continues to be so.

Traveling, Mary
