I
love to set a nice table |
|
Lately,
I have been doing a lot of entertaining, which means
a lot of preparing, cooking and eating. From an early
age, I learned how to make a presentation at the dining
room table. What are some of the tools that you need?
|
| |
Dining
room table - of course. Hopefully it's of a size that
seats six to eight and that can quickly expand to 10 or
12 if needed. |
| |
Linens
or placemats. Have the wash-and-wear tablecloth handy.
I put mine on a hanger in the closet closest to the table.
Use neutral colors. |
| |
Cloth-washable
napkins held by napkin rings. Assemble them beforehand
and
choose a theme for the table arrangement. |
| |
Three
small, square black or silver vases. These vases look
OK without flowers but dynamite with them. Tulips, mums
or plain greenery. Keep the arrangement low so you can
see your guests. Scatter lit votive candles around the
table |
| |
Dishes,
glasses and silverware. Simple white dishes and glassware
are my favorite with basic silverware. |
| |
Appealing food is a must! Your plate of food needs to
look attractive as well as delicious! |
|
What
has all of this got to do with travel and
presenting travel ideas to prospective clients?
The
preparation is similar. Your best tool is yourself and
your experience in the industry. Are you organized and
prepared when you are with your clients?
What
other tools do you need? Knowledge of the destination
and partnering with the best tour operators, hotels
and airlines is critical.
Travel
is an intangible product. How you present and execute
is everything - as well as a reflection of who you are
and what you believe in.
Remember,
people want to do business with people they know and
like. |
