Still a part of Norway, but lying roughly halfway between the mainland and the North Pole, this collection of islands is the northernmost inhabited region in the world. Here you’ll witness immense glaciers and fjords, pristine Arctic tundra and glorious wildlife. Including migrating seabirds, walruses and whales… plus the chance to spot the magnificent Polar bear. Taking you deep into the Arctic Circle, this journey is a true once-in-a-life experience.

 Itinerary
Day 1  Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Day 2  Amsterdam, Netherlands
Start your journey to the Arctic in Amsterdam where you’ll be warmly greeted on board Scenic Eclipse. Meet the captain, crew and your Discovery Team before setting sail for your adventure. Meal: D
Day 3  At sea
Relax on board and make use of the Spa Sanctuary or even take a yoga class in the studio as you cruise the North Sea towards Norway. There’ll be insightful lectures and presentations from the Discovery Team in the theatre or perhaps learn some new cooking techniques in Scenic Epicure. Meals: B, L, D
Day 4  Bergen, Norway
Norway’s magnificent second city is set on a beautiful convergence of fjords and surrounded by mountains. You’ll have time to explore the Bergen’s historic city quarters, taking in the traditional and colourful clapboard houses. Meals: B, L, D
Day 5  Vikoyri > Flam
Sail along Sognefjord - the largest fjord in Norway. At its deepest Sognefjord plunges to more than 1,300 metres while the spectacular mountains rise on either side. You’ll pass through the village of Vikoyri before making your way to the village of Flåm in the heart of the fjord. Famous for the Flåm Railway and its stunning scenery. Meals: B, L, D
Day 6  Alesund
Straddling several islands, Alesund houses a unique concentration of Art Nouveau architecture set to the stunning backdrop of the Norwegian Fjords. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7  Torghatten
Cruise towards the granite mountain of Torghatten. One of Norway’s best known mountain formations, it’s distinctive for a hole going right through it – the subject of Nordland legend and fairy tales. Meals: B, L, D
Day 8  Gravdal > Trollfjord
Arrive in Lofoten where great, craggy islands touch the sky, picturesque villages dot the archipelago and wildlife abounds. You’ll sail impressive Trollfjord as you explore this must-see destination. Meals: B, L, D
Day 9  Tromsø
Known as the cultural hub of the Arctic, Tromsø sits just above the Arctic Circle in the lands of the Midnight Sun. Meals: B, L, D
Day 10  North Cape
Head far beyond the Arctic Circle to Norway’s North Cape, the northernmost point of Europe’s mainland. Meals: B, L, D
Day 11  Bear Island
En route to the Svalbard Archipelago is the rarely visited Bear Island. A protected nature reserve, it’s home to dramatic cliffs, huge seabird colonies and a unique collection of fauna and flora. Meals: B, L, D
Day 12-15  Svalbard Archipelago
The Svalbard Archipelago’s rugged glaciers and frozen tundras are a fragile and remote area of vast environmental significance, while Spitsbergen is the largest island. Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, the sailing and expedition schedule is flexible. Your experienced Captain and Discovery Leader will use their expertise to design this section of your voyage from day to day. Making the most of the long hours of daylight, weather and ice conditions to give you the best experience possible in this extraordinary part of the world. You will enjoy daily Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and on nature walks to get up close to majestic Arctic scenery, tundra landscapes wildlife and marine life that surrounds you. Day 16  Longyearbyen > Oslo
Your cruise ends this morning as you say farewell to the crew, disembark and fly to the Norwegian capital, Oslo where you will board your flight back to the USA, arriving the following day. Meal: B

Rooms for the night before and after the tour are available. Cost for a room in Halifax is $219, tax included.

Passport & Visas – Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport.  Expiry date of passports should be at least 6 months after the return date of tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour.  Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. NOTE: Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name and your tour reservation name or you may be denied aircraft boarding.
