Day 1  Dinner and Illumination Tour in Washington, DC
Welcome to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. The holiday spirit can be seen throughout the city as you transfer to your hotel. Meet your traveling companions at 6:00 p.m. lobby for a welcome dinner. Following dinner, enjoy the beauty of the Nation’s Capital monuments and memorials bathed in light on an Illumination Tour. Meal: D
Day 2  Mount Vernon and The Grand Illumination
Leaving DC behind today come to Mount Vernon, the home of George and Martha Washington. In the 18th century the Washington’s celebrated Christmas with family at Mount Vernon, which was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of working life. See the estate modestly decorated for the holiday season. This afternoon we arrive in Williamsburg and check in to our hotel. Tonight, we experience the wonder and spectacle of the Grand Illumination. Enjoy musical performances from multiple stages, see the unique holiday decorations and delight in the fireworks displays for the Capitol, Magazine and the Governor’s Palace. Meal: B
Day 3  Celebrate Christmas Past at Colonial Williamsburg
For nearly a century Williamsburg was the social, cultural and political center of a fledgling nation. To re-create an early American atmosphere, all 88 public buildings have been restored to their original state. Christmas in Williamsburg is an experience to be cherished. Christmas traditions have been handed down over generations. As you stroll along the streets you feel the excitement of “Christmas Past” while period costumed guides and craftsmen recreate the colonial style of life. This evening would not be complete without a traditional dinner at The King’s Arms Tavern and caroling at the Courthouse. Meals: B, D
Day 4  Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown
Today we visit Historic Jamestowne the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America. Here, we see the ruins of the original 1607 James Fort and the restored Jamestown Church. At Jamestown Settlement hear the story of these 17th century Virginia colonists. In Yorktown we visit the American Revolution Museum which tells the story of the nation’s founding from the colonial period to the dawn of the Constitution. At Yorktown Battlefield learn how George Washington’s forces besieged the British army thus ending the Revolutionary War and ensuring independence. Back at Williamsburg, we bid farewell to the region with a festive farewell dinner. Meals: B, D
Day 5  Return Home
We return to the Washington, DC area for flights out after 2:00 p.m. from Washington Reagan National Airport. We take with us warm memories of Christmas in Williamsburg. Meal: B
