Following the rugged shoreline of the Keweenaw Peninsula brings you to the town of Copper Harbor. This was once the center of the copper mining in the region and was also a supply depot and gathering point for exploring parties.

At the end of the Keweenaw Peninsula stands the Fort Wilkins Historic Complex, a well-reserved nineteenth-century military post and lighthouse complex.
