Day 1  Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight transatlantic flight to Cairo, Egypt.
Day 2  Cairo, Egypt
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a representative of Mayflower Cruises and Tours and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure in this remarkable city that offers renowned history and culture.
Day 3  Luxor
This morning, fly from Cairo to Luxor. Upon arrival, visit the vast open-air Karnak Temple Complex where ancient hieroglyphics adorn the pillars. Wander amongst a vast mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings as you discover the ruins of these 2,000-year-old grounds. After the visit, check-in to the hotel, and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure before the Welcome Dinner this evening. Meals: B, D
Day 4  Luxor
History of Queens, Pharaohs and powerful nobles abounds in Egypt. Today, discover their impressive burial sites. From the awe-inspiring temple of Queen Hatshepsut – which took fifteen years to complete during her reign – to the expansive Valley of the Kings, your Egyptologist brings history to life. Climb the steps of Queen Hatshepsut’s tomb, or admire it from a distance. In the Valley of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage site, enter some of the tombs and discover stunning, well-preserved hieroglyphics adorning the walls. Some of the writing includes text from the Book of the Dead. After your exploration, embark the MS Hamees, your home for the next four nights. Meals: B, L, D
Day 5  Dendera – Luxor
Relax on the Sun Deck of the MS Hamees and catch a glimpse of daily life along the banks of the Nile as you cruise to Dendera. There you’ll find one of the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt. View the marvelously vibrant colors of the hieroglyphics adorning the roof of the Hathor’s Temple whose ornate beauty will leave a lasting impression. The vessel returns to Luxor and you depart on a walking tour of Luxor Temple and the Great Hypostyle Hall. Meals: B, L, D

Day 6  Esna – Kom Ombo
Follow in the footsteps of the ancient pharaohs as you cruise down the meandering Nile. Charming villages and storied temples pepper the riverbanks, nestled amid vast desert landscapes. Visit Esna Temple, built in memory of Khnum, the god of creation, as it showcases a variety of astronomical scenes. Kom Ombo Temple, perched high on the east bank, was dedicated to Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. A fun night awaits onboard with a lively Galabeya party themed with Egyptian delicacies, music and dancing. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7  Aswan – Abu Simbel
Your Nile cruise continues to Aswan, home of the Nubian people. This morning fly to Abu Simbel and visit one of Egypt’s most magnificent monuments. Marvel at the enormous World Heritage listed temples of Ramses II and his wife, Nefertari, rescued from the rising waters of the Aswan Dam. They are considered some of the best-preserved temples in the country. After returning to Aswan, enjoy a guided boat tour along the Nile. It’s a great way to see some of the stunning views, just as Cleopatra did so many centuries ago! Meals: B, L, D

Day 8  Aswan – Cairo
Bid farewell to your captain and crew and embark on a guided tour of the Osiris temple complex of Philae. Completed in 690 AD, the complex is a series of ancient temples, considered by many as one of the last ancient temples built in the classic Egyptian style. This afternoon fly to Cairo for a 3-night stay in the bustling capital. Meals: B, L
Day 9  Cairo
Your Egyptian adventure takes you to the great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx – UNESCO World Heritage sites. The last remaining ‘wonder’ of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramids of Giza are perhaps the most famous structures in history. The Great Sphinx of Giza is a symbol that has represented the essence of Egypt for more than 4,500 years. This evening immerse yourself in local culture with a visit to the home of a local Egyptian family, who will host an authentic dining experience. Meet the family, see their home, learn about local life, and enjoy delicious home-cooked food! Meals: B, D

Day 10  Cairo
Discover some of the priceless treasures in the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. This magnificent museum houses 120,000 artifacts, including an entire section dedicated to “the boy king”, Tutankhamun and items recovered from his tomb. See antique jewelry, ancient sculptures, exhibits of ancient scrolls, religious artifacts and solid gold funeral masks. The remainder of the day is yours to explore Cairo at leisure before the included dinner. Meals: B, D

This morning transfer to the Cairo International Airport and return home with memories of the life enriching experiences from Egypt and your cruise along the Nile River. Meal: B

If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited.
