 Itinerary
Day 1  Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Moscow, Russia.
Day 2  Moscow
Welcome to Moscow, Russia’s capital city on the banks of the Moskva River. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the MS Nizhy Novgorod where a warm welcome from your crew awaits. Tonight enjoy your first dinner onboard with your fellow travelers, as the ship overnights in Moscow. Meal: D
Day 3  Moscow
The city’s architecture is a reflection of its 860-year-old history with many reminders of its Imperial and Soviet past. Enjoy a tour showcasing Moscow’s main highlights, including Red Square with the brightly colored domes of St. Basil Cathedral, the Lenin Mausoleum, the State Historical Museum and GUM Department Store. Visit the Cosmonaut Museum to learn about Russia’s history in the ‘space race’. This afternoon may be a highlight of the trip with a visit to the Kremlin Grounds. During a stroll around the grounds, see the majestic Cathedral Square which still retains its original form, the Palace of Congresses, Senate Square with the Arsenal and senate buildings and residence of the President of the Russian Federation. This evening your ship remains docked in Moscow overnight. Meals: B, L, D
Day 4  Moscow
The day is yours to continue exploring the sights and attractions of this magnificent city, or simply relax onboard. Early in the evening the ship departs and your Captain will host a welcome aboard reception. Meals: B, L, D
Day 5  Uglich
Enjoy a leisurely morning sailing along the river and join in the onboard activities. This afternoon, the ship arrives Uglich, one of the most beloved towns in Old Russia and part of the Golden Ring around Moscow. Throughout its 1000 year history, the town has been used by various Monarchs including Ivan the Terrible as a base for attacks on the Tatars and Poles. On the walking tour, visit the renowned green-domed Cathedral of Transfiguration and the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood, which was built on the site where Dmitry, the youngest son of Ivan the Terrible, was murdered. The ship departs for Yaroslavl this evening. Meals: B, L, D
Day 6  Yaroslavl
Founded in the 11th century by Yaroslav the Wise, this ancient city retains many monuments of its noteworthy and colorful past. The day begins with a walking tour taking you through the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl Rivers. Visit the Church of St. Ilya the Prophet, an incredible structure filled with frescoes and classic Russian architecture, then wander the grounds of the Saviour - Transfiguration Monastery, one of the oldest along the Volga. The ship sails for Goritsy this afternoon. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7  Goritsy
Your arrival in Goritsy brings you to a typical Russian village set in the most scenic countryside. Depart by coach to the Kirillo- Belozersky Monastery. Founded in 1397 by Cyril, one of the most honored saints in the Russian Orthodox Church, the monastery houses the Assumption Cathedral and many ancient icons which were loved by Ivan the Terrible. The ship departs for Kizhi Island early this afternoon. Meals: B, L, D
Day 8  Kizhi
Cruise Lake Onega, Europe’s second largest lake, before arriving at the small island of Kizhi. Depart on a walking tour through the Open Air Museum of Architecture (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), housing a collection of restored 18th-century Russian wooden buildings. The highlight of the museum is the three-tiered, 22-domed Transfiguration Cathedral. Built in 1714, this amazing structure is constructed entirely without nails! Set sail for Mandrogi this evening. Meals: B, L, D
Day 9  Mandrogi
Visit the picturesque village of Mandrogi located on the River Svir. The charming landscape is dotted with colorful “izbas” – wooden houses with finely carved roofs and window frames. During your free time, visit the Vodka Museum or shop for local handicrafts such as pottery and the famous “matryioshka” dolls. An afternoon departure and leisurely cruise along the river ends the day. This evening, the Captain hosts a farewell reception. Meals: B, L, D
Day 10  St. Petersburg
Petersburg: Sailing on the Neva River, arrive in St. Petersburg this morning, and after breakfast, depart on a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site city. Travel along the Nevsky Prospect, the main boulevard of St. Petersburg, and pass the Gostiny Dvor (city’s largest department store), monument to Catherine the Great, and other notable sites. The tour concludes with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress, founded by Peter the Great, which is the original citadel of the city. The ship remains docked in St. Petersburg for the duration of the cruise. Meals: B, L, D
Day 11  St. Petersburg
The day is at leisure for you to pursue independent interests. Meals: B, L, D
Day 12  St. Petersburg
Start your day with a visit to the Hermitage Museum. Rival to the Louvre in Paris, the Hermitage Museum is one of the largest and oldest museums in the world. Formerly the Winter Palace and home of the Tsars, the museum’s collection is comprised of nearly three million exhibits including the largest collection of paintings in the world and early collections dating back to Catherine II. The final afternoon is at your leisure in this beautiful city. Meals: B, L, D
Day 13  St. Petersburg / USA
After breakfast, it is time to say farewell to your fellow travelers and crew and disembark the ship for your transfer to the airport and your flight home. Meal: B

Expiry date of passports should be at least 6 months after the return date of tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. NOTE: Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name and your tour reservation name or you may be denied aircraft boarding.
