Day 1  Depart USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Munich, Germany.
Day 2  Munich – Nuremberg, Germany
Welcome to Europe! Upon arrival in Munich, you will be met at the airport by a representative of Mayflower Cruises & Tours and transferred to your Scenic Space-Ship in Nuremberg. Relax onboard as you become acquainted with your new surroundings. At the welcome reception this evening, join the Captain as he toasts to the start of a fantastic voyage! Meal: D
Day 3  Nuremberg
Freechoice: Explore this Bavarian city on a guided walking tour with a local guide. Or you can choose to visit important WWII sites, including the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds, a reminder of the terror caused by this National Socialist regime. Alternatively, visit Nuremberg’s rock-cut cellars for a unique beer-tasting experience underneath the city. Meals: B, L, D
Day 4  Regensburg
Set at the confluence of the Danube, Naab, and Regen Rivers, Regensburg once served as a free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire. Freechoice: On a guided walking tour, see the town’s splendid Gothic cathedral, 12th-century stone bridge, and the Porta Praetoria—the ancient Roman city gate. Alternatively, take a local ferry across the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey, home to the world’s oldest monastic brewery. Explore the abbey, then head to the courtyard and sip on a pint of their popular Weltenburger Kloster Barock Dunkel. Or, if you are feeling more active, take a leisurely cycle tour on your own to the Walhalla Monument with 'Scenic Tailormade'. Meals: B, L, D
Day 5  Passau, Germany – Linz, Austria
Freechoice: Today, choose between excursions to two World Heritage sites. Journey to Salzburg, Austria, and discover the charms of this city well-known as Mozart’s birthplace and the backdrop for The Sound of Music. Stroll through the storybook streets with your local guide and see the historic and scenic sights. Alternatively, head to the Czech town of Ceský Krumlov— a labyrinth of cobble-stoned streets with medieval, baroque, and Renaissance houses, lively cafés, and hidden squares. If you’d prefer a more leisurely option, stay onboard the ship for a cooking demonstration as it sails from Passau to Linz. Meals: B, L, D
Day 6  Melk to Dürnstein
Freechoice: Join a tour of Melk’s 18th-century Benedictine Abbey, one of the world’s most magnificent baroque buildings. Alternatively, meet the current owners of Artstetten Castle, once home to the Archduke Franz Ferdinand whose assassination sparked the beginning of WWI. Or, taste your way through the Wachau Valley sampling many regional delicacies as you go. You can also choose to meet a Schnapps producer and sample some of the many flavors. If you are feeling more active, embark on a guided bike ride along the river from Melk to Dürnstein. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7  Vienna
Freechoice: While in Vienna, you may choose from among several excursions. Stay in the city to visit Schönbrunn Palace, the baroque summer residence of the imperial family or opt to peruse the galleries of the Belvedere Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Gustav Klimt paintings, including “The Kiss.” Alternatively, explore a different side of Vienna on a guided cycling tour. You can also choose to travel to Bratislava by coach where you’ll discover its many charms during the walking tour with a local guide. Stroll through the cobblestone streets, filled with shops and restaurants, see historic architecture, the Opera House and other main sights. As another option, journey outside of Vienna’s city center to its acclaimed wine region, hearing tales of Vienna’s long history in wine production along the way. Enrich: This evening, enjoy a private concert in the gilded halls of Palais Liechtenstein, featuring the timeless music of celebrated Austrian composers Strauss and Mozart. Meals: B, L, D
Day 8  Budapest, Hungary
Today you can choose between several Freechoice options. During a guided city tour that includes a piano concert, discover the two distinct sides of this Hungarian capital – the cobbled hills of Buda and the grand boulevards of Pest, linked by eight stately bridges that span the Danube. Alternatively, explore Budapest through the lens of its Jewish history with a local guide or choose to hike the Buda Hills that rise beyond the city center. You may also opt to venture to the charming riverfront town of Szentendre, home to a thriving artist colony. Meals: B, L, D
Day 9  Budapest / USA
Bid farewell to Europe, your captain and crew as you transfer to the airport and return home with wonderful memories of life enriching experiences from your cruise along the Danube River. Meal: B

Passport & Visas: Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport.  Expiry date of passports should be at least 6 months after the return date of tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. NOTE: Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name and your tour reservation name or you may be denied aircraft boarding.
