Day 1  Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Budapest, Hungary.
Day 2  Budapest, Hungary
Welcome to Budapest, one of Europe’s oldest and prettiest cities. You will be met at the airport by a representative of Mayflower Cruises and Tours and transferred to your Scenic vessel. Relax and raise your glass to the days ahead at this evening’s welcome reception. Meal: D
Day 3  Budapest
Begin the day with your choice of Freechoice activities: a guided tour of the city; relax and unwind at the local thermal baths and spa; a guided tour focused on the past and present of Budapest or experience the labyrinths of the Hospital in the Rock. If you’re feeling more active, take a hike to Buda Hill. Meals: B, L, D
Day 4  Vienna, Austria
Relax onboard as the vessel sails to Vienna, passing idyllic scenery along the way. Your introduction to this classical city begins with an ENRICH activity: breathe in the opulence and luxury of Palais Liechtenstein while enjoying a glass of fine Austrian Sekt. Then be enthralled by an enchanting private Viennese evening concert featuring the timeless music of Strauss and Mozart. Even in elegant Vienna, Palais Liechtenstein is one of the grandest venues. Day 5  Vienna
Today’s Freechoice activities in the city are: visit Schönbrunn Palace and witness the sheer opulence of the Habsburg Empire; learn about Viennese coffee culture with a local expert; or explore Vienna on a cycling tour to Danube Island. Alternatively, discover the capital of Slovakia on an excursion to Bratislava. Meals: B, L, D
Day 6   Dürnstein / Melk
Upon arrival, stroll through the charming town of Dürnstein before continuing through the Wachau Valley to Melk, home to an imposing 900-year- old Benedictine Abbey featuring Austria’s finest Italian baroque architecture. Freechoice: a guided visit through Melk Abbey; visit the fairytale castle of Burg Aggstein, or the more active guests can choose to join the bike ride from Dürnstein to Melk. Meals: B, L, D
Day 7  Passau, Germany (Salzburg, Austria)
From Passau, travel by coach to the beautiful city of Salzburg where you have two Freechoice options: a guided walking tour of the Baroque Old Town where you learn about one of its most famous residents, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. OR, join a walking tour focusing on the sights from The Sound of Music. ENRICH: Let the “Best of The Sound of Music and Salzburg Show” transport you to another time and place. Based on the timeless movie, this exclusive production is performed in the rolling hills of Salzburg and will wow you with its stage sets. Enjoy an authentic Austrian lunch before an afternoon of humming along to some of the catchy classics. Meals: B, L, D
Day 8  Regensburg
As one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities, Regensburg offers a rich tapestry of experiences. Your Freechoice activities are: enjoy a walking tour of the city; hop onboard a local ferry and sail the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey; or join an active walking tour to Thurn und Taxis Palace. You can also take a leisurely cycle on your own, with your Tailormade GPS device, to the Walhalla Monument. Meals: B, L, D
Day 9  Nuremberg
There are three Freechoice activities in Nuremberg: discover the city on an orientation tour by foot; visit moving WWII sites and learn about this dark era in the city’s history; or stay onboard for a beer tasting. Meals: B, L, D
Day 10  Bamberg
Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the Old Town of Bamberg, one of Europe’s largest intact medieval town centers, and a UNESCO World Heritage city, alive with history. Along with your local guide, walk the same cobbled streets as medieval traders once did. During your leisure time, you might like to savor the traditional smoked beer of the region. Meals: B, L, D
Day 11  Würzburg
Set amongst sloping, vineyard-covered hills, Würzburg is known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road”. Your Freechoice activities include: a visit to the Bishops’ Residenz, one of Germany’s largest and most ornate baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you sample some exquisite local wine.

OR, explore the famous Romantic Road, an important trade route during the Middle-Ages, followed by a visit to the beautiful walled town of Rothenburg, a medieval gem overlooking the Tauber River. Meals: B, L, D
Day 12  Miltenberg
Today is about getting to know local culture. The Freechoice options are: meet a Monk in a local monastery for a tour and insight into regional beer production; meet a winemaker for a taste of his fine wines; meet a Baron and Baroness and learn about aristocratic life; visit a local Schnapps producer or a farming family and taste some of their homemade products. Meals: B, L, D
Day 13  Rüdesheim / Rhine Gorge / Marksburg
Alight in Rüdesheim and board the Winzerexpress mini-train that takes you to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Visit this unique museum then board a cable car to ride to the Niederwald Monument for spectacular views of the river below. This afternoon may be a highlight as you witness the unrivalled views of the spectacular World Heritage Rhine Gorge and cruise past the infamous Lorelei Rock. Keep your camera ready to capture the stunning vistas of castles perched atop steep vine-covered slopes in this section of the river.

ENRICH: Delight in the medieval ambience of Marksburg Castle, which has remained virtually unchanged since the Middle-Ages. Partake in a magnificent medieval feast, with an abundance of fine fare and free-flowing local wine. Minstrels and colorful court jesters provide entertainment in the grand tradition of Europe’s great royal houses. Meals: B, L, D
Day 14  Cologne
Cruise along the Rhine River to Cologne. Founded by the Romans, the city is one of Germany’s oldest and famous for its magnificent World Heritage gothic Cathedral. Your Freechoice activities include: taking a stroll through Cologne to get up close to the filigree twin towers of the famous cathedral; exploring the city’s past and present during a guided tour, OR, for the more active guests, joining a guided cycling tour. Meals: B, L, D
Day 15  Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Your Freechoice activities in this historic city are: experience an iconic canal cruise; explore on foot during a flavors of Holland walking tour and taste some Dutch favorites such as herring, cheese and poffertjes; discover the city by bicycle, or journey outside of Amsterdam and visit the villages of Alkmaar & Schermerhorn, home to many authentic windmills dating back to the 16th century. Day 16  Amsterdam
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Captain and crew as you disembark the ship for your transfer to Schiphol Airport. Meal: B

Passport & Visas: Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport.  Expiry date of passports should be at least 6 months after the return date of tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour.  Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited.

NOTE: Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name and your tour reservation name or you may be denied aircraft boarding.
