Christmas in Vermont
Day 1: Arrive in Vermont
Arrive in Burlington, Vermont, today and transfer to your hotel. Meet your Tour Manager at 6:00 p.m. for a welcome dinner. Meal: D
Day 2: Teddy Bear Factory and the von Trapp Family Lodge
After breakfast you will begin the day at “Vermont’s Tastiest Attraction,” Dakin Farms to see the variety of their gourmet meats and cheeses. Then, visit the famed Vermont Teddy Bear Factory for a guided tour and to see how our furry friends are made. Later, come to the Country Christmas Loft, a 14-room Christmas store with themes ranging from Nutcrackers and lighting to toys and villages. Then, check in to the von Trapp Family Lodge, your home for the next two nights. Owned by the eldest son of Maria and Baron Georg Johannes von Trapp it has remained in the family since 1942. Before dinner, enjoy a wine tasting featuring wines selected by the Lodge’s sommelier. Your delicious dinner tonight is served in the beautiful Mozart Dining Room where you might be joined by a very special guest. Afterward, relax and enjoy the amenities of the lodge or maybe take in a feature film in the theater. Meals: B, D
Day 3: History Tour at the Lodge, Holiday Classes and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Begin the day with breakfast at the Lodge followed by the von Trapp Family History Tour. See the film The Real Maria and maybe even meet and greet with a von Trapp family member. Then, enjoy a fun hands-on Christmas Tree Ornament decorating class before having lunch on your own at the Lodge. Afterward, experience another hands-on Cupcake decorating class before heading off to the famous Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for a tasting of their delicious ice cream. Return to the lodge to freshen up before dinner. Tonight, a beer tasting featuring freshly brewed lagers is followed by dinner of foods with an Austrian flare is served in the von Trapp Family Bierhall. Meals: B, D
Day 4: Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Quechee Gorge and Green Mountain Sugarhouse
Enjoy one last breakfast in the Main Dining Room before saying good-bye to your mountain retreat. The first stop today is at Cold Hollow Cider Mill, known for their wonderful cider, to sample some of their fine apple products including gourmet cider donuts. Enjoy a drive through Vermont’s state capital of Montpelier before coming to the impressive Quechee Gorge for a photo stop. Then, arrive at Green Mountain Sugarhouse to learn about and taste maple sugar (Vermont’s Liquid Gold). Meals: B, L
Day 5: Vermont Country Store, the Hildene Estate and Christmas Dinner
Following breakfast, depart for a visit to the famed Vermont Country Store. Opened in 1946 inside a remodeled general store, the store is still family-owned. Lunch today is on your own in quaint Manchester. In the afternoon, you will visit Hildene, the summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln, eldest son of Abraham Lincoln. Enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful estate. Then make a stop at the Village Peddler and Chocolatorium for tasting. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner hosted by your Tour Manager. Meals: B, D
Day 6: Airport Transfer and Home
After breakfast you will have a group transfer to the Burlington Airport for flights out after 1:00 p.m. Meal: B
